Sibbertoft
General
Sibbertoft is a rural village just south of the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border. Despite the village being small, it has a village hall (the reading room), a pub, a church and a recreation ground. Neighbouring villages have to be relied upon for larger facilities like health care and shopping For more information see the village's own website.
History
Not much is know about the founding of Sibbertoft, but at some point before 1000AD a family called Sigbiorn started to clear land for a settlement, the Toft. Later a priest was assigned to "Sigbiorn's Toft", this is known due to the villages mention in the Doomsday book, it's first documented reference. Between the dates of 1066 and 1086 the value of the village increased 6 fold. Through the village's history, the Manor has been rebuild twice and the current Manor dates back to the Georgian period.
